Satisfactory participation of Ensa in Patram 2019

Maliaño, the 14th of August 2019.- For Equipos Nucleares S.A., S.M.E its participation in the 19th edition of Patram 2019, the international symposium on packages for the transport of radioactive materials held in New Orleans, has been highly satisfactory.

The state company based in Maliaño had a good visibility thanks to its stand which has allowed more potential customers to know the ENUN technology that it has developed through the design, licensing, manufacturing and loading campaigns of these casks for the storage and transportation of spent fuel.

Alejandro Palacio and Guillermo Calleja gave two presentations in which they developed different aspects of the ENUN casks. On the one hand, Palacio explained Ensa’s role in the fuel transport tests implemented in the ENUN 32P with the Sandia National Labs in 2017 through his presentation “Logistics preparation for the Multi-Modal Surrogate Spent Nuclear Fuel Transportation Test using the ENUN 32P cask” and Calleja reviewed the origin of the ENUN, as well as its current status and situation with “ENUN Cask – A successful history”.

This fair has meant for Ensa an excellent chance to show its products, capabilities and services of spent fuel management to numerous customers and demonstrate that it is at the forefront of the technique in the world of casks.

The Board of Directors of Ensa visit the Maliaño facilities

Maliaño, July the 2nd  2019.- The Board of Directors of Ensa visited recently the facilities that the state company has in Maliaño.

The counselors attended the most current issues of the company and analyze future needs. They also had the opportunity to visit the Advanced Technology Center and the workshop, knowing first-hand the latest advances in the model 1: 1 of the ITER project , as well as the different manufacturing states in which some of the large components that Ensa designs and manufactures are such as steam generators and casks for storage and transport of spent fuel.

Chaired by the president of Ensa, José David Gomila, the Board of Directors is made up of: Miguel Miranda, Jaime Sánchez, Elena Pastor, José Manuel Prieto, Inmaculada Soto, Iciar Amorrortu , Valentín Dueñas, .Juan Antonio Tebar and Margarita Ruiz. Joaquín Gallardo, director of Legal Advice and Secretary of the Board, closes the organizational chart.

 

We participate in the 27th edition of Women in Nuclear Global in Madrid

Maliaño, June 26, 2019.- Equipos Nucleares S.A., S.M.E participated in the 27th edition of Women in Nuclear Global held recently in Madrid; a forum for women professionals in the nuclear sector in which different nuclear issues related to innovation and technology were discussed, among others.

María Vega, director of Business Development of Ensa, spoke at Session 1: Long-term operation of NPP and sustainability with the presentation with the title: “Expansion of the storage capacity of spent fuel through dry storage systems ”

Ensa presented 4 posters: “Internal Segmentation Reactor”, carried out by Sofía Corino, Mario Pérez and Pablo Echaure together with Domingo García from GE Hitachi; “Vacuum Vessel Assembly Welding: Ending of Development Phase” by Sofía Corino, Luis A. Blanco and Óscar Arenal, “Nuclear Spent Fuel Management: Cask- Design, Licensing, Manufacturing and Loading” and “Design And Development Of Multiples Components For The Civil Nuclear Industry “, both designed by Elena Mayordomo, Lucía Bilbao, Beatriz Santamaría, Ignacio Ortiz and Tan Lin.

For the company this type of meetings ” are always positive to strengthen existing ties with professionals in the sector and encourage new alliances that can generate future business opportunities.”

Address new challenges and technological needs, objective of the ninth annual meeting between Ensa and UC

Engineering design, environment and waste management or Technology 4.0 are some of the issues addressed in the joint session between Ensa technicians and UC researchers

 Santander, June 12, 2019.- Exploring new collaboration opportunities in order to address different technological challenges and needs is the objective of the ninth annual meeting held this morning between the University of Cantabria and Equipos Nucleares, S.A., S.M.E. at the company’s facilities in Maliaño.

Each year a conference is organized with the participation of more than twenty researchers and technicians who highlight the potential areas of collaboration in different areas of knowledge, related to economic and business issues; design engineering; environment and waste management; projects with manufacturing; o Technology 4.0, among others.

Ensa’s Project director, Miguel Ángel Andérez, expressed his interest in “continuing to celebrate these joint days in which we intend to continue the collaborations that have been maintained over the years.” He also highlighted the importance of “making known the work that the company does to the university and what the university can contribute to the company.”

The rector of the UC, Angel Pazos Carro, described as “a privileged” the relationship between the UC and Ensa at the time of “exchange knowledge, develop applied projects, as well as to take advantage of the possibilities in both research and training.” For the rector, the meeting held today is on the way of “putting knowledge at the service of Ensa and at the same time, that Ensa can transmit its application needs to the university” and therefore, it is an “example of what that it has to be the transfer of knowledge technology between university and company”, he said.

For his part, the vice rector of Research and Knowledge Transfer, Javier Léon, pointed the close collaboration between UC and Ensa that serves to “put Ensa technicians in contact with UC researchers and meet their needs”.

Ensa received students from the Degrees of Mechanical Engineering and Electronics of the UC to attract their best talents

Maliaño, May the 28th 2019.- Equipos Nucleares S.A, S.M.E received the visit of a group of students of the last courses of the Degrees of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering of the University of Cantabria to reinforce the channels that exists between them to attract and maintain the best within their academic environment, for Ensa, an indispensable condition to grow and to be competitive.

The state company based in Maliaño has been collaborating with the UC for many years in different projects related to innovation, as well as in the transfer of knowledge between both. An intense relationship that extends even to the workplace, as far as the recruitment of young talents from the university is concerned. This is so, that almost 40% of the scholarship holders who agreed to Ensa with an internship agreement when they were university students were subsequently hired.

Ensa understands the need to strengthen ties with the University of Cantabria and other training centers in the region, therefore the fluid dialogue with them and the implementation of different programs focused on getting the best talents to develop their daily work in the company in the most efficient possible way. Human talent, more and more trained, to be able to achieve better results and increase the company’s position in an increasingly competitive market.

Ensa received a representation of companies in the nuclear sector of South Korea

Maliaño, 23rd of may, 2019.- Equipos Nucleares S.A., S.M.E received the visit of a representation of South Korean companies dedicated to the nuclear industry. The meeting was organized by the Foro Nuclear in collaboration with Korea Trade Investment Promotion , Agency Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and Korea Nuclear Partners .

More than 40 companies from the nuclear sector in Spain and South Korea gathered at the facilities that the state company has in Maliaño to intensify the synergies and alliances between the Spanish and South Korean nuclear industry, as well as to strengthen or establish new businesses in the nuclear field between both countries.

Its general director, Rafael Triviño, welcomed them and explained the capabilities of Ensa, as well as its international expansion. The group visited the workshop where they could see some of the main components designed and manufactured by the company such as steam generators or casks for the storage and transportation of spent fuel in different manufacturing states.

For its part, the Cantabrian Cluster of Nuclear Industry , a business organization that emerged as a meeting point between agents of the Cantabrian nuclear industry, with María Vega as president, showed the technology and services offered by the companies that integrated it. Each of its representatives had the opportunity to publicize their products and services through bilateral meetings.

Ensa strengthens ties with a delegation of the Wales Government and the Wales Nuclear Forum

Maliaño, 20th of may 2019. – Equipos Nucleares S.A., S.M.E received representatives from the Wales Administration, the Wales Nuclear Forum and 8 companies from the country that develop their activity in the nuclear sector. In this second meeting with the Government of Wales and the WNF, the state company based in Maliaño had the opportunity to strengthen ties and exchange ideas for future collaborations. Throughout an intense day, Ensa announced the main projects in which it is currently immersed and identified more specific lines of collaboration.

Within the framework of this meeting, the CINC and the WNF subscribed a collaboration agreement signed by its presidents, María Vega – also director of Business Development of Ensa – and P.J. Cornish, which establishes cooperation channels between both and the bases to work together to favor the presence of these clusters in the nuclear market between Cantabria and Wales.

This meeting and the agreement signed are part of the strategy of the CINC to collaborate internationally with different agents of the nuclear industry, develop promotion and integration actions with other national or international clusters that favor the increase of opportunities to its associated companies.

Ensa received the students of the Master’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Cataluña

Maliaño, the 10th of may 2019.- One more year, Equipos Nucleares SA, SME received the visit of the students of the Master of Nuclear Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Cataluña who came with the chief from the Nuclear Engineering Division of the UPC, Lluís Batet.

During the visit, the group toured the main facilities that the state company has in Maliaño, including the laboratories that are integrated within its Advanced Technology Center.

In the workshop, they saw the scale model 1: 1 of the union of sectors of the reactor of the ITER , steam generators and fuel casks in different state of manufacture and a replacement head of a reactor.

One of the objectives of the Master, which is part of the European master EMINE organized by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology, is to train highly competent nuclear engineers so that they can easily adapt to positions of responsibility in companies in the sector or nuclear research centers.

Ensa participated in the Meeting with the Talent hosted by the ETS of Industrial Engineers and Telecommunication of the UC

Maliaño, March 20th 2019.- Equipos Nucleares S.A., S.M.E participated in the third edition of the Meeting with the Talent hosted by the ETS of Industrial Engineers and Telecommunication of the Cantabrian University .

The aim of this event was brought the student near to the companies, to put them in touch with the labor market. The most important companies in the region participated in it. Ensa was one of them together with its subsidiary, Enwesa. There, the student have the chance to know their products, services and activity and also to provide them the delivery of their resume to possible work practices.

For the state company established at Maliaño this meetings are very productive because improve the approach of companies with the talent of the students and offer the opportunity to find different profiles that fit what it needs.

The CINC celebrates the Seminar “Current situation, Challenges and Perspectives for the future in the Nuclear Industry”

Maliaño, March 13, 2019.- The Cluster of the Nuclear Industry of Cantabria celebrates tomorrow the conference “Current Situation, Challenges and Perspectives for the Future in the Nuclear Industry”.

The event, which will take place in the Chamber of Commerce of Santander and Cantabria from 10:00 am, will allow knowing the current situation and future opportunities within the Nuclear Industry sector.

The day, which will be opened by Sodercan, will be used to present the Activity Report of the business conglomerate during 2018.

The CINC will have three luxury speakers: Ivan Baldwin, president of the  Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster , who will speak about the importance of regional clustering and international cooperation; Jose Antonio Gago, general director of the Ascó Vandellós Nuclear Association that will deal with the technical and economic sustainability of the Spanish nuclear power plants: current situation and future prospects and Teresa Rodrigo, director of the Institute of Physics of Cantabria , who will discuss about the scientific infrastructure and its relationship with nuclear facilities.

The speakers

Iván Baldwin, chairman of the BECBC; an energy cluster of more than 300 companies based in North West England. He has more than 20 years of experience working in highly regulated sectors such as defense, construction and nuclear energy and building multiple relationships with commercial success in the UK and overseas markets.

For his part, Jose Antonio Gago, worked at ENRESA where he held various responsibilities related to the management of spent fuel and high-level waste, at ENDESA he was sub director of Engineering and Fuel Cycle of the General Directorate of Nuclear Energy and since 2009 he has worked in ANAV, the company that operates the Ascó 1 and 2 nuclear power plants and Vandellós II. Since May 2012 he is the general director of this Association. He is currently a member of the Board of irectors of the Foro Nuclear and has been the president of the Sociedad Nuclear Española during 2017 and 2018.

Teresa Rodrigo is professor of Physics at the University of Cantabria. She participates in experiments of Physics in Particles Accelerators, which are developed in large laboratories such as the CERN in Geneva or the FERMILAB in Chicago-US. She has participated in the most relevant experiments in the area of her ​​specialty that have taken place in the last decades, which is reflected in a long list of scientific publications.
