Maliaño, June the 28th 2019.- Equipos Nucleares S.A., S.M.E (Ensa) has been registered in the Carbon Footprint Registry, compensation and carbon dioxide absorption projects after the Ecological Transition Ministry resolved positively its request.

The state company located in Maliaño has launched a Plan to Reduce the carbon footprint in which the following actions stand out:

  • Promote the low carbon origin of the electricity consumed, introducing criteria in the contract that reward the energy coming from renewable sources. The electricity supply contract signed for 2019 guarantees that 100% of the electricity comes from renewable sources or high efficiency cogeneration; sources that do not emit greenhouse gases.
  • Reduction of fuel consumption through improvements in the processes that allow the substitution of thermal treatments that use natural gas by electrical induction processes.
  • Replacement of all lighting by low consumption systems.

The Registry, created by Real Decreto 163/2014, of March 14, reflects the efforts of Spanish organizations in the calculation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions generated by their activity.

All registered prints are accompanied by a reduction plan and are checked prior to registration. It is recognized that an organization has reduced its footprint when it meets a strict criterion that demonstrates a decreasing trend of emissions.
